Basic error definition

Idle Control System RPM Higher Than Expected

Cause of DTC

Enable conditions are as follows: coolant temperature 156 ºF (69 ºC) minimum, intake air temperature 19 ºF (-7 ºC), fuel trim 0.73-1.47, throttle closed and battery voltage at least 10.5 volts. The execution time is once per driving cycle and the duration time is 20 seconds or more. If the actual idle speed varies beyond a specified value from the target speed over a certain period of time, the PCM detects a malfunction. The actual idle speed is at least 200 rpm greater than the target idle speed for at least 20 seconds. NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot.
