Definition

Exhaust Gas Recirculation A Control Circuit High

Description

The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Motor Control 2 circuit can be driven high or low depending on whether the EGR Valve is being opened or closed by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM monitors the circuit for excessive current draw in both directions. The PCM will set the P0489 or P0490 DTC depending on which direction the EGR Valve is being driven when the fault occurs. For this fault, the PCM detects a current draw above 8.6 amps on the EGR Motor Control 2 circuit when the circuit is being driven high.
